What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. It’s about growth, decision-making, and navigating leadership challenges. Therapy typically addresses mental health, trauma, or healing from the past. Coaching may touch on emotions, but it’s not a substitute for clinical care.
How is coaching different from mentorship or training?
Mentorship is about offering advice from personal experience. Training is about teaching specific content or skills. Coaching is different: it’s a structured process that helps you uncover your own insights and move forward with clarity and purpose. You set the goals; your coach helps you stay aligned and effective.
What happens in an exploratory session?
We’ll talk about what you’re looking for, what’s getting in the way, and whether coaching is the right fit. You’ll get a sense of how I work—and I’ll get a sense of how to support you. No prep needed.
Can coaching be reimbursed by my organization?
Many companies have professional development budgets that can cover executive coaching. If you’re not sure how to ask, I can provide a sample request or language to use with HR or your manager.
Do you record coaching sessions?
The Good Org’s default policy is to record coaching sessions and provide clients with a copy, unless the client requests not to be recorded. For more, see our full Recording Policy.
How should I prepare for coaching sessions?
You don’t need to come with anything formal—just show up ready to think, reflect, and be honest. Some clients keep a running list of things they want to explore. Others arrive with a challenge in the moment. Both work.
How do I know if this is the right time for coaching?
If you’re navigating a major decision, managing a growing team, struggling with clarity, or feeling pulled in too many directions, coaching can help. You don’t need to be “in crisis” to benefit. Many clients start coaching when they’re doing well—but want to lead even better.
What if I need to reschedule a session?
Life happens. You can reschedule with at least 24 hours’ notice. Missed sessions or late cancellations may be forfeited, but we’ll always approach scheduling with fairness and flexibility.
What is a typical coaching session like?
Coaching sessions are focused, thoughtful conversations where we explore your goals, challenges, and decision points. You’ll leave each session with greater clarity, a next step (or two), and a sense of progress. You guide the agenda; I help you stay aligned and intentional.
Will there be homework?
Sometimes. If an insight or question arises that’s worth sitting with, I may suggest a reflection prompt, a journaling practice, or a short tool or framework to try. Nothing is mandatory—but your growth tends to match the effort you bring between sessions.
Do I need to take notes or track progress?
You’re welcome to take notes, and I’ll often summarize key points or next steps at the end of a session. In longer engagements, we’ll revisit your goals and reflect on progress periodically to make sure the work stays on track and relevant.
Where can I find details about scheduling, cancellations, and coaching boundaries?
We’ve put together a dedicated page that covers what to expect in our coaching relationship—including how sessions are scheduled, our cancellation policy, how recordings are handled, and the ethical boundaries we follow. Read our Coaching Policies & Expectations
